2012/01/07 ListenLive Firmware version 1.3a is available and new Loader files are there In version 1.3a a few small bugs were fixed.
If you have a good idea about what is still missing, post in the feedback thread.

Special note to Arnova users: It turns out that that manufacturer has decided to not include the recovery mode that is present on some models. Obviously this makes it harder to recover from a failed flash proces (it is not impossible though!)
Firmware version 1.2a (and newer) includes a failsafe method which partially protects against software errors and partial flashing errors.

Loading Listenlive firmware: To load firmware 1.3a you need to be on listenLive firmware 1.0 or higher.
If you are still on the original firmware you first need to load the "loader" firmware.
The loader firmware has to be loaded as a regular firmware update. Thus via SD or Internal flash memory.
Once you have installed the loader and the system reboots you get into a text mode screen. This screen has only one function. To flash your device with a new firmware.
The loader will wait for the OK button to be pressed. Once you do, the firmware file is tested and flashed. On some models it will also perform a cleanup operation because the manufacturer left behind some garbage.
Note: for each model there will be a specific loader! If your loader is not available yet it will be soon. Trying other loaders is useless as that will not work.

Upgrading from an original firmware to the Loader should not take long. Whatever you do do not cut power until during the update.
Upgrading from the loader to the Listenlive firmware takes a lot longer since much more data has to be written. Again do not cut power during the process.

Step by step from original firmware to Listenlive firmware:
- put loader firmware on the device (or SD if the original firmware supports that -usually 1.86 and higher-)
- perform the firmware update via the setting menu
- the device will reboot when done and start with a text screen
- put the listenlive firmware on an SD card
- perform the firmware update by pressing the OK button
- the device will reboot when done and start with the ListenLive menu screen

Note: On the Arnova the 1.0 update process seems to take a long time (35 minutes!)

Do not interrupt the update process, if you do it will most likely kill your device
The firmware is available HERE
Feedback and additional screenshots can be found here: Read more
Would be nice to receive some feedback after you have installed the firmware.

To show what you can expect from the Listenlive firmware, here is a screenshot of the main menu:
More butons are availabe when scrolling down. Right now there are 40 buttons.. Here are some more:
Note: Remember that updating the firmware is not without risk. The device might become useless when the flash process fails. In case of problems you can contact me via mail.

- If you want to contribute to this project you can find more information on the Donate page.
I am also in need of "system information", a simple remote control as used with the Xoro models and some ram chips ;) See the forum for more info.

2012/01/06: NEWS!
- In the coming days new listenLive replacement firmware files for all Sky TC models will be released.
All modified firmwares will be removed since these are suffering from the same mistakes as the original firmwares.
It is simply too easy to brick your device with one of the original or modified firmwares. The safest solution is to use the ListenLive firmware.

2012/01/05: NEWS!
- Be aware of the following. The company that manufactures our devices (SkyTC) is tracking user behaviour and stores every server request in their database.
This includes the devices MAC and used IP address. All official firmware versions from 1.89 and higher have this behaviour.

2012/01/05: NEWS!
- The Listenlive firmware is available for almost all SkyTC based devices. If your model is not supported yet, it can easily be added. Use the forum to provide your model details.
- So far the following brand names are supported:
Xoro, Arnova, Envivo, Xenta, Wiwa, Pearl, Mediabox, Foxman, Xoro and many others..
Missing ones will be added shortly.

2012/01/01: Happy new year!
- So far we have seen firmware versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.2a for the majority of SkyTC devices.
New firmwares will be released whenever there are enough significant changes. Use the forum to post your finding and what improvements you would like to see.

2012/01/01: Penbex and their Radio's
- it seems that Penbex is slowly dropping all forms of support for their devices. Their database server is still working but updates are very limited.
